“River Towns Musicians” In The Garden at the Frenchtown Bookshop

On Thursday, August 18 (6-8pm) 3 other Frenchtown-area musicians and myself will playing in the lovely backyard garden  at the Frenchtown Bookshop (28 Bridge St., Frenchtown NJ) Each of us will be doing a 20-minute set. (Hat tip to bookshop owner Scott Sheldon for making his wonderful bookshop such a “go-to” spot for live music, poetry readings, and conversations with authors and artists)

This hometown musical evening will feature Joe Coco, writer of over 800 songs and producer of 58 albums (5 are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame),  Jim Gilheany a “first call” bass player who has backed up Rick Danko of The Band, Lonnie Shields, and Sonny Rhodes and was a founding member of the popular NJ band Kings of Disguise, Rob Lanter a solo jazz guitarist whose compositions weave in Latin, rock, funk, and blues influences. He has performed at numerous jazz festivals and also produces recordings for other musicians at his state-of-the-art studio. Lastly, Bill Ihling (moi) who stepped out ten years ago as a solo act after decades of playing bass in bar & bluegrass bands from NJ to Kansas. Bill is a “song collector”, performing solo acoustic covers of songs by everybody from Louis Armstrong to Warren Zevon. I am truly privileged and humbled to be sharing a stage with these other accomplished musicians….

This event is a benefit for our local Food Pantry. Guests are asked to bring some food donations
